Dr. Elkins grew up as a self-proclaimed "Army Brat" and has lived in many states and countries. She currently lives in Greenville, SC, but calls Alabama her official homebase, as that is where her parents have retired on a horse farm. She attended the Agnes Scott College in Decatur/Atlanta, GA for undergraduate studies and the Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine in Auburn, AL for her veterinary degree.
Before joining Spartanburg Animal Clinic, Dr. Elkins practiced veterinary medicine in Las Vegas, NV and various other hospital within the Greenville, SC region. Her special interests include geriatric medicine, pain management, internal medicine, dermatology, animal welfare, veterinary acupuncture and the human-animal bond.
At home, Dr. Elkins has a 1.5-year-old Lab-Newfie mix named Oliver, who she considers her co-pilot and co-adventurer. In her spare time, she enjoys writing, reading, music, yoga, hiking, kayaking (trying to teach Oliver how to paddle and not constantly jump out of the boat!), horseback riding, and basically anything that involves being outside in the mountains with her dog. Another beloved pet of hers is Scooby, an English Thoroughbred gelding who lives the good life on her parents' farm in Alabama.
