Dr. Elkins grew up as a self-proclaimed "Army Brat" and has lived in numerous states, Central America, and Europe. She currently lives in Spartanburg, but still calls Alabama home where her parents retired and own a horse farm. She attended Agnes Scott College in Atlanta, GA for undergraduate studies, receiving a BA in Creative Writing and English Literature. She attended Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine in Auburn, AL for her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine.
Before joining Spartanburg Animal Clinic, Dr. Elkins practiced medicine in Las Vegas, Nevada and various locations within the Upstate South Carolina area. Her special interests include geriatric medicine, pain management, internal medicine, dermatology, and animal welfare.
At home Dr. Elkins has a 3-year-old Newfoundland-Retriever mix named Oliver, who she considers her co-pilot and co-adventurer. In her spare time, she enjoys writing, reading, music, horseback riding, yoga, hiking, kayaking, obedience and agility work with Oliver, and just about anything else that involves being outside in the mountains with her dog. Another beloved pet of hers is Scooby, an English Thoroughbred gelding who lives the good life on her parents' farm.
